Lake Pichola is an artificial fresh water lake of Udaipur. It was created in the year 1362 AD by "Banjara" tribesman who transported grain, during the reign of Maharana Lakha. Later, Maharana Udai Singh, founded the city of Udaipur on the banks of the lake and enlarged it by constructing a stone masonry dam on the shore of the Lake. With time several bathing ghats, residential, temples and market developed around the lake. Lake Pichola also house the two famous island building, Jag Mandir, a private property held by trust of crowned family and Jag Niwas, now known as Lake Palace Hotel. The ornamental arch bridges have been built at several locations to span the waterway between the banks.
Lake Pichola is one of most famous attraction of Udaipur City. The city life revolves around it. The famous Gangaur festival of Udaipur is also celebrated at Gangaur Ghat, the bank of lake Pichola. We are situated on the bank opposite to famous Gangaur Ghat. You can enjoy all lake activities from the windows of our rooms itself.
Udaipur Is known as city of lakes because it has 7 lakes within the city and many in the vicinity. Lake Pichola is one of the biggest lake of it. The famous lakes of Udaipur are Pichola, Swaroop Sagar, Fateh Sagar, Rang Sagar, Goverdhan Sagar, Kumharia Talab, and Doodh Talai. Surrounding Lakes are Badi, Chota Madar, Bada Madar, Udai Sagar and Jai Samand.
There are many things to do around Pichola, Visit the Bird Sanctuary situated at one of the bank or do a Boat ride to view the mystique lake Pichola and Palaces and Ghats build around it.
